On December 31, 2017, 9:33 p.m. the Townsend Fire Department  was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision with a report of a vehicle overturned on DuPont Parkway at Fieldsboro Road. Upon department arrival there was a two-vehicle crash with a SUV on its side against a pole. One patient was transported to the Christiana Hospital via state police helicopter.
