Finally on 10 28 2010 construction began on the Townsend Fire Company. After 8 months of dispute with the insurance company finally construction began on replacing the Townsend Fire Company which collapsed in Feb 2010 under the weight of the three major back to back snowstorms that blanketed Delaware earlier this year. The construction, being overseen by PHB contractors of Middletown is expected to take six months to complete. The exterior of the building is expected to have only a few changes, a pitched roof, a new separate entrance for the banquet hall and brick facing instead of the steel building that the original was. According to President David A Hall the changes were necessary to ensure the future of the building so that this structure will remain in place and functional for many generations to come.
