On the morning of October 4th at 9:06 am, Townsend Fire Company along with Station 24 for an engine were dispatched for a car fire on the Rte. 1 bypass bear the Barlow Branch Creek Bridge.Unit on scene called in a fully involved car on the shoulder. Deldot and Townsend Fire Police had the north bound lanes shut down prior to rescue engines arrival. Once on scene Rescue Engine 26 crews pulled a handline and attacked the fire using foam from the truck. Townsend Command placed the scene under control within 35 minutes and was able to open one lane of traffic. Along with Rescue Engine 26, Tanker 26, C26, multiple 26 fire police, Engine 24, Deldot Units and Drakes Towinf responded to get the scene cleared for the weekend race traffic.
