On October 11, 2017 @0820, Townsend FIre Co alond with Odessa Fire Company and NCC Medic 5 were dispatched for an MVC w/Rollover on SB Rt 1 @ New Discovery Rd. 26-8 arrived to find a tractor trailer tanker truck rolled over on its side,spilling gasolione from several breaks in the tank. The driver of the tanker truck was transported to Christiana Hospital via Trooper 4. Multiple agencies were requested to assist and contain the spill, DNREC and Miller Enviromental handled the containment and cleaning of the spill. 2 Tankers were requested, once from Citizens Hose Co of Smyrna and one from Leipsic Fire Co. Another tractor trailer truck arrived to offload the remaining gasoline from the damaged tanker truck. Once that was completed, the damaged tanker truck was removed from the scene and 26-8 turned it over to DNREC for the cleaning of the spill. 26 units were back in quarters around 1500 hours.
