Jan 3,2010 Firefighters from Townsend (26), Odessa (24) Middletown Clayton (45) and Smyrna (44) battled this barn fire on what seemed to be the coldest night of the winter up to that date. Approximately 3 30 am Townsend Fire Company was dispatched to a smoke investigation in the area of Caldwell corner Rd. Chief Montinez arrived to find heavy fire from this large barn. In addition to the difficulties of the extremely cold weather firefighters were hindered by the fact the barn was filled with split wood witch the homeowner sold by the cord. The barn was a total loss the fire marshals office is investigating the cause of the blaze, which was found to be suspicious.
