The Junior Members of the Townsend Fire Department are part of a program where Teenagers, male and female, 14 and 15 years old that are interested in becoming Firefighters and/or EMTs in the future when they become 16 years old. In the program the Junior Members are taught the basics, from hand tools to hose handling. This program gives them a jump on the mandatory requirements that new Active Members must complete within the first 30 days of membership. Those who are active in completing the basics early in their Junior Membership Careers can test to qualify to ride on certain chosen emergency responses.
